Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm have today announced the launch of Star Wars: Commander on iOS devices. The base-building combat game sees players traveling to Tatooine, where they’ll create a base and join either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire. The choice impacts the characters and military units players will have access to, as well as the game’s storyline and overall goal.
EA Mobile has announced its newest content update in The Simpsons: Tapped Out on mobile. This game-changing update takes a stab at the many base-building combat games on mobile devices, and sees players building up their own troops before sending them into battle against their neighbors.

Tablet games and apps competition The Tabby Awards has unveiled its list of winners for 2014, which includes a list of users’ choice selections. The 30 winners were selected last Spring by an international panel of independent judges, while the users’ choice winners were decided by app users in June and July on the Tabby Awards website. Almost 100,000 votes were cast in this first public poll.
Back in March, SEGA Networks announced the development of Crazy Taxi: City Rush for iOS. Now, the big release day has arrived and players can jump behind the wheel of their very own taxi, speeding through city streets causing mayhem, all in the name of dropping off patrons as fast as possible.
Crazy Taxi: City Rush comes from SEGA’s Hardlight Studios, alongside Kenji Kanno, the creator of the original Crazy Taxi arcade game. While the control scheme has been streamlined for mobile devices, the game also retains the chaos of the original experience. Players complete missions by picking up patrons and dropping them off across town before time runs out, but completing those tasks will test players’ reflexes along the way.
Marvel and Disney Interactive have today announced the launch of Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon, the official mobile game for the film set to hit theaters on August 1. The game stars a variety of heroes and villains from the Guardians of the Galaxy universe, and sees gamers controlling multiple characters on screen at once, against waves of oncoming enemies.
Back in April, My.com released Evolution: Battle for Utopia on iOS devices. The game takes players to the planet of Utopia, which is inhabited by unwelcoming monsters. Players become stranded on the planet during an expedition, and must build a base and complete quests in order to survive in their new home. Now, a new set of gamers can get in on the fun, as Evolution has launched for free on Google Play for Android devices.
An iPhone robbery turned deadly when a girl died after sustaining injures trying to save her phone. The teenager, Rubi Rubio, was only 15. She was walking with her 7-year-old sister when a stranger approached the girls and asked for the time. He then took the phone away from Rubio by force. (more…)
After developing successful properties for younger audiences, Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy has expanded its target audience to include moms and dads with Moshling Rescue on iOS devices. Previously released on Facebook, the match-three game sees players completing levels by rescuing moshlings that have been trapped under the dirt and rubble from a volcanic eruption.
