Mobile messaging app Tango has announced the launch of its News Feed feature, creating a hub of content for the platform’s more than 200 million registered users. The News Feed supports text, videos, music from Spotify and more, and was created with the goal of offering a deeper experience for users.
Social messaging app Yik Yak has received $1.5 million in additional funding for the expansion of its ‘hyper-local engagement’ platform, with funding from Vaizra Investments, DCM, Azure Capital Partners and others. The Yik Yak platform is an anonymous social experience, which allows users to connect to others based on location, with support for connections within a 1.5 mile radius.
On April 11, Samsung launched its Galaxy S5 Android smartphone. According to new data from mobile app analytics company Localytics, within a week of its global release, the Galaxy S5 made up 0.7 percent of all active Android smartphones worldwide, and has an early adoption rate similar to that seen with the release of the iPhone 5S.
The popular UberFacts Twitter account has grown into a full mobile app, as iPhone users can now take the facts-driven database with them wherever they go. Instead of waiting for the platform’s Twitter account to post a new fact, users can browse through 10 categories, learning interesting tidbits about topics that matter most to them.
Stormburn Limited has launched its newest game on iOS devices: Gem Flurry. Created with the goal of taking the “tired old ‘matching’ puzzle genre and [mixing] it up,” Gem Flurry was designed with a focus on speed and reflexes, rather than concentration and combos, as players must continue to create matches with gems, before the screen completely fills.
Gameloft has announced the launch of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 mobile game on iOS and Android devices. Announced in March 2014, the open-world adventure game sees players stepping into the suit of the web-slinger to save New York City from Electro. The game is an expansion of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 film, which hits theaters in the US next month.
Mobile game company Kabam has announced a partnership with entertainment personality Wil Wheaton, which sees the actor, writer and blogger making an appearance in Kabam’s popular mobile game, Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon. The partnership sees “Advisor Wheaton” helping players through a new in-game campaign, which is only available for a limited time.
Zola has announced the launch of its wedding registry platform on iPhone, which works to help ‘modern couples’ receive the best gifts possible from friends and family, by combining every store, and every item, into one app. The app offers a catalog view of over 3,000 items, but also supports the addition of unlimited items by users themselves.
With Easter right around the corner, mobile game developer and publisher Game Insight has announced a variety of Easter-themed content updates across its many games on iOS, Android and Facebook. From Mystery Manor to The Tribez, fans of Game Insight’s titles have lots to keep them busy this Easter season.
