Gameloft sees record Q4 2013 revenue, full-year sales up 12%
Mobile and social game publisher Gameloft has announced its earnings for Q4 2013, seeing record revenues of €62.3 million ($85 million) in Q4. The company’s full-year sales reached €233.3 million ($318 million), with more than 80 percent of the company’s smartphone revenues coming from the sale of virtual items and ads in its free-to-play titles.
Gameloft’s Q4 revenues were up by 8 percent year-over-year, with overall sales being up 12 percent from 2012. Its full year sales were slightly below the company’s predicted €235 – €240 million ($321 million – $326 million), which Gameloft attributes to the delay in the release of “several” games, among other factors.
Gameloft’s smartphone and tablet sales increased 36 percent year-over-year, with tablet and smartphone sales representing two-thirds of the company’s total sales. That’s up from 54 percent in 2012. In addition, more than 75 percent of Gameloft’s revenue in 2013 came from games released prior to 2013.
In the past 30 days, 160 million people have played a Gameloft game on their smartphone or tablets. The company has continued to release new products to begin 2014, like the Hardcore update in Dungeon Hunter 4, which encourages elite players to complete the game all over again for additional challenge and rewards.
