WinZip updates iOS app with AirDrop and Dropbox support
As mobile users look to become more productive in the new year, WinZip has updated its mobile app on iOS, offering an updated design for iOS7 and new features that focus on an “enhanced workflow” experience. The app allows users to open and view Zip or RAR files on their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices.
This update takes the WinZip app to Version 3.0, and introduces support for AirDrop and Dropbox. Users can view multiple file types, from text documents and PDF files to media files and photos, among many others. With AirDrop, users can then open the contents of a Zip or RAR file and share them with other iOS users without sending them through email or another service.
A new “recent’ tab offers a look at the three most recently opened files for easier browsing later on, while the Dropbox support allows users to unzip files directly to Dropbox, or create and send Dropbox links for zipped files, among other options.
“The new features in WinZip for iOS are designed to dramatically enhance your ability to safely save and send files. Through a simplified UI, you can accomplish all your sharing tasks faster than before,” said Patrick Nichols, President of WinZip.
WinZip is available for $4.99 on iOS devices. The update is available for free for all current paid users. Check back soon to follow WinZip on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
