Music-streaming service Rdio makes personalized stations free on iOS, Android
Music streaming service Rdio has announced the free availability of its personalized streaming stations to all users on iOS and Android. This update allows users to listen to all of the artist, song and genre stations available on Rdio, as well as access You FM and Friend FM, two “smart” stations that are personalized based on users’ taste in music.
The You FM channel analyzes a user’s previous listening habits, as well as their likes on Facebook. Since the service originally launched in August, Rdio says almost 2.3 million You FM stations have been created. In addition, any song, artist, genre or station can now be shared on Facebook, Twitter or with other Rdio users.
This availability also includes playlist and album stations, which pull from the service’s library of over 20 million songs. These free stations are available for all Rdio users in the US, Canada and Australia.
“Station plays are up over 50 percent since our launch in August,” said Drew Larner, Rdio’s CEO, in a company statement. “We’re excited to make one of our most popular features available to everyone for free, forever.”
