Kabam launches Kingdoms of Camelot spinoff, Heroes of Camelot, on iOS
Core game developer Kabam has today announced the launch of Heroes of Camelot on iOS. The game is a spinoff of the developer’s popular Kingdoms of Camelot franchise, which was previously released on iOS as Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North. That franchise alone has grossed more than $250 million for Kabam in less than four years.
Heroes of Camelot is a card battle game set in the world of King Arthur, which has been invaded by the “forces of evil,” led by the Dark Knight. Players must choose between two factions, the Britons and the Druids, which have come together to fight their common enemy, despite their own rivalries.
This setup sees players battling against enemies while collecting cards and completing a quest system through five cities and over 40 stages.
Heroes of Camelot allows players to form up to three teams that can simultaneously battle against monsters, demons and dragons. Each team, depending on the members, can have different skill sets and combo abilities. The abilities of single heroes can be upgraded as well, with cards being upgradable to become more powerful still.
In addition to the game’s single-player story, Heroes of Camelot features player-vs-player multiplayer battles. Players can also chat with each other via in-game live chat.
“Kingdoms of Camelot has grown to be Kabam’s top franchise,” said Andrew Sheppard, President of Kabam Studios, in a company statement. “The franchise’s tens of millions of players around the world have demonstrated an insatiable appetite for new experiences within the universe. For our players, we’ve grown Kingdoms of Camelot from a Web game in 2009 to Battle for the North, the top-grossing app on the iPhone, in 2012, and now into a new genre with Heroes of Camelot.”
Heroes of Camelot is now available to download for free on iPhone and iPad. An Android release is coming soon on the Google Play store. Check back soon to follow the game’s progress on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
