EA announces Heroes of Dragon Age for iOS, Android
EA has announced Heroes of Dragon Age, the latest title in BioWare’s popular fantasy franchise, which once again takes the series away from consoles and into a free-to-play format. Heroes of Dragon Age will be free-to-play on mobile, offering squad-based combat for Dragon Age fans both new and old.
Developed by mobile-focused studio EA Capital Games, Heroes of Dragon Age will see players building a party full of characters from Dragon Age lore, including Morrigan. These characters come to life during battles as 3D figures, and players can use a variety of squad-formation strategies to come out ahead.
According to EA’s announcement of the game, players will collect heroes and complete a variety of quests as they play. In this respect, the game sounds similar to a card battle game, but with 3D figures instead than cards.
Outside of battle, players will earn rewards and climb the game’s leaderboards. The game will be cross-platform across iOS and Android, but an official release date hasn’t been revealed.
This isn’t the first time Dragon Age has been transformed into a free-to-play experience. The first game, Dragon Age: Legends, launched on Facebook in 2011 and closed in June 2012 due to incredibly low player numbers. Like Dragon Age: Legends, Heroes of Dragon Age will be a standalone title, available to play outside of the console game experiences.
