Plants vs. Zombies, Oscars, The Simpsons: Tapped Out and more on this week’s top free app charts

The Apple App Store’s featured PopCap’s Plants vs. Zombies (which is free for a limited time) as its App of the week, propelling it to the No. 1 spot on this week’s top free iPad apps chart and to the No. 2 spot on the top free iPhone apps chart. Disney’s recently released endless runner game Monster, Inc. Run landed at the No. 3 position on iPhone and the No. 5 position om iPad. Oscars, the official app for The Oscars which aired last night, jumped to the No. 3 spot for iPad and the No. 12 spot for iPhone.

Electronic Arts’ successful free-to-play game The Simpsons: Tapped Out already cracked the top 10 on the top free Android apps chart at the No. 9 spot.
