Emerging paid iOS apps: Angry Birds dethrones Draw Something
This week finally sees some variety in the top paid iOS app charts as Rovio’s Angry Birds Space prevents Draw Something from topping the charts for the third week in a row. Upon its release, Angry Birds Space shot to the top of both the paid and top grossing charts in over 28 countries. According to the game’s App Store listing, it has reached No. 1 on an iOS chart in 99 separate countries.
Madcoaster had a strong debut this week, entering the charts at No. 19 and quickly rising to the No. 3 spot. A twist on auto-run games like Run Roo Run and Jetpack Joyride, the $0.99 game was developed by CGMatic and published by Chillingo. Dapper Gentleman’s Ugly Meter Pro also had a strong week, climbing 44 places to No. 6 on the paid charts.
Ville Makynen, aka, Touch Foo had a strong debut with his new game Swordigo reaching No. 21 on the top paid iPad app charts and No. 31 on the iPhone paid app charts. The 2D platformer costs $1.99 and features both Game Center and OpenFeint achievements.
